DANTESSA book project:

DANTESSA has been working on a book these last couple of years. It is a collaboration of members' and other scholars' work. It includes both scholarly and creative meditations on Dante in the South African context. It is to be published for the 700th anniversary of Dante's death.

DANTESSA conference:

DANTESSA is holding an online conference, "Conversations with Dante in Africa and the Global South", later this year in honour of the 700th anniversary of Dante's death. This conference will include work on the following topic areas:

African writers who draw on Dante
Pedagogical papers on teaching Dante in Africa and the Global South
Translations of Dante’s works into African languages
Translations of Dante’s works in the context of Africa and the Global South
Dante’s concept of exile adopted by African writers
